When Mike gets Bored…
- he doesn’t read
- he doesn’t impulsively clean (unfortunately!)
- he doesn’t cook or bake
BUT
- he does work on cars
- he does wash cars
- he does build things
- he does tear things apart and make them look better
- and many more...
A few days ago Mike decided he was bored and decided it was high time to remodel the middle bathroom. It wasn’t bad or dysfunctional or anything – it was just from the 80’s. Out came the vanity, the ugly light fixture, the old towel bars etc. Then came the trip to Lowes. We bought new light fixtures and the accessories, but couldn’t decide on a vanity base. I didn’t really care for any of them and they were pricey so Mike decided to build the vanity.
After measuring a few times, drawing up a plan, and a trip to Home Depot Mike began building the vanity. He started building on Thursday and was done by Saturday. Then he stained and installed. At this point it is probably 75% of the way done – and it WILL be done by Saturday, thanks Kings for giving us a deadline!
Mike built some type of jig to put together the doors. I think they turned out great!

Goodbye Mazda, hello ?
Yesterday it was time to say goodbye to my faithful Mazda 3. Yay, no more manual driving in the foreseen future! We’ll probably stay carless for a couple months (weeks?) while we spend some time searching for the “right” vehicle.

Viva Las Vegas
Last weekend Mike and I had the chance to go to Las Vegas. It was my first experience to sin city and it was definitely interesting! We arrived Friday and spent some time by the pool relaxing. Then we explored the Strip where the streets were packed with people. My favorite part of the strips were the fountains by the Bellagio Casino. They were awesome! Unfortunately we did not have our camera for the ‘show’.
Later that night we went in several casinos and signed up for the players club receiving free slot money. Now, slots are BORING, but we had free money so we spent it. The nicest casino with the best service was the Cosmopolitan, I think its pretty new. It was glitzy and gaudy but fun!
Saturday night we saw Blue Man Group and had to sit in the splash zone. Cheaper tickets, and really, no fear of being splashed! Mike says they were “pretty good, not the best thing ever, but fun.”
Sunday we took off for the Hoover Dam. It’s only 25 minutes from Vegas and well worth the trip. We stopped in Boulder City at the Southwestern Cafe and had a delicious breakfast. I love finding cool little diners. The Hoover Dam was very impressive especially with the new bridge that connects Nevada to Arizona.

Disneyland
Disney was great: family, friends, no lines, and good weather. No lines… on a busy Sunday? We have now discovered the ONLY way to go to Disneyland! My sister was able to get a special pass that allowed us to get to the front of every line. I must say it was amazing. It made our day and money spend so well worth it!
Our favorite rides were Thunder Mountain and Space Mountain. My mom however preferred Finding Nemo and Small World.
Elizabeth LOVED all the rides and being able to cut in line!
It’s always fun meeting up with Marybeth and Darren when we’re around the Anaheim area.
We weren’t really looking forward to Small World…
Another short line…
The moms got a little goofy towards the end of the day.
